Our story

Danila & Jonathan

A brief first meeting became a shared road: through road trips, music, courage, and many miles.

A Meeting in the Netherlands

It began as a simple adventure with friends. Jonathan travelled to the Netherlands with a group, and through Johannes Kober, a few connections, and a generous family, they ended up staying in Danila's home.

The next morning Jonathan was awake early for worship. Then Danila came downstairs, made something to eat, and left for work. It was only a short moment, almost easy to miss. Still, it was the first beginning.

The Run in Finland

Some time later, another road trip took Jonathan to the Adventist Youth Congress in Lahti, Finland. Suddenly Danila stood in front of him. After a small moment of remembering, a reunion became something shared.

At an ADRA charity run Jonathan told her, "If you run, I will run too." Danila agreed. She ran with strength, won a blue backpack in her group, and left an impression that stayed. Jonathan saw courage, joy, and a remarkable kind of energy.

Music, Visits, and a Yes in Switzerland

Messages became conversations, and conversations became trust. Danila played piano, Jonathan violin. At YIM and later in Bogenhofen they practiced music together. Two voices slowly began to sound as one.

They met each other's families, played a concert together in Alkmaar, and kept visiting one another. During Christmas 2023 Danila came to Glarus. After a day full of music and service, Jonathan asked if she could imagine beginning a relationship. Her answer was yes.

From Distance to Home

Leipzig and the Netherlands were not exactly close. Still, they found ways to see each other whenever studies, exams, and daily life allowed. When Danila later began an internship in Frankfurt, the long-distance chapter finally ended.

On 06.10.2025 Jonathan asked Danila to walk through life with him. He had planned to ask at Veste Otzberg, but everything there was closed off. So a forest edge with a view toward Frankfurt became the perfect place. Jonathan made the ring himself from birch, her favourite wood, and olive, his favourite wood.

What Remains

Jonathan loves Danila's joy in learning, her courage, and her willingness to join in fully. Whether it is music, something new, or even cutting logs with a chainsaw, Danila brings her whole heart.

What Connects Them

Both know that love is not only a feeling, but also a choice, devotion, and work. That makes it precious. They share music, faith, curiosity, and the desire to grow together.
